THE 2019 NATIONAL BILINGUALISM WEEK

The 2019 National Week of Bilingualism, whose activities were launched by the Centre Regional Delegate for Basic education on Monday 28 January 2019 at GROUPE  SCOLAIRE BILINGUE NGAYAP  Ekoundoum  - YAOUNDE was celebrated under the theme:

Bilingualism: a binding force for national integration, a springboard for peace and development.”
This theme that has been echoed throughout the week of celebrations like a drumbeat to awaken consciences and a rallying song. Throughout the week, the Ministry of Basic education was committed to raising the awareness of the educational community about its innovative teaching projects and the promotion of bilingualism, such as the Special Bilingual Education Programme.
Last Friday, the Yaounde Conference Centre served as the venue for the closing ceremony of the said week and it was, presided over by the Minister .

A ceremony packed with music and colour, during which a televised fashion parade took place presented by some wonderful pupil of J-RICH CHILDREN'S WORLD LEARNING CENTRE YAOUNDE in which they showcased the different cultures from the 10 regions of the country that enhanced her adhesive nature of 'A ONE AND INDIVISIBLE NATION "

As a reminder, integrated bilingualism refers to the use of English and French, while parallel bilingualism is the use of English or French in an institution in particular and in the society in general.
According to the Minister of Secondary Education (MINESEC), “Cameroonians must love bilingualism as much as they love football”.
In fact, learners today are confronted with an interconnected world and are affected by globalisation in all aspects of their lives. Therefore, the ability to communicate fluently in French and English is a huge advantage for an emerging Cameroon by the year 2035.

Our culture is our wealth

Another innovation was that special prizes were personally awarded by the regional delegate to some special  school on the basis of ethics, performance, loyalty and hard work during this wonderful event. In J-RICH won the first prize due to their wonderful performances.
